Ken, who is a successful professional, fully believes in
Video
Professor. He started working with computers
nearly 15 years ago. Before that, he was surprisingly
intimidated by the various computer skills that many
people had. After seeing and realizing that every
successful person that he knew was working with
computers, he believed that in order for him to move
up within a business, he was going to have to learn a
variety of computer skills that many people were
starting to have. He realized he had to attain some
knowledge of computer programs that would benefit him
in the long term.
Ken believes that employers today require workers to get
the job done through computers. Ken states, “They’re going
to ask you to know, ok, can you do a spreadsheet for me,
can you type a letter for me, can you do it quickly and do
you know how to move around within the computer. Because if
you don’t, they’re not going to want to spend a lot of time
to train you. Training’s just the toughest thing to get
done these days because of the fast pace of business.”
Ken saw that being able to work a spreadsheet or to operate
Windows and Microsoft Office were all very important
factors for putting together projects. He realized that
being familiar with those computer programs were simply
basic skills that everyone should have, especially in any
respectable, high-paying profession.
In addition, Ken believes that those that were familiar
with various computer programs—those who had the skills,
were the ones who were easily hired. Therefore, he saw it
necessary to gain some technological skills. This is where
he found the Video Professor. He thought that spending time
in training new hires was a time-consuming and expensive
task for any company. As a result, he believed that
distance
learning was a fast and efficient way to train
himself. In addition, he believed that it wouldn’t
hurt if people were able to show up to their job
interviews with an impressive resume that listed their
capabilities. Ken saw that Video Professor had the
effective quality of preparing people for the
professional world.
Because people are easily intimidated by working with a
computer, Ken thought that being able to learn the skills
at home made Video Professor a more efficient learning
tool. He believed that the computer-training program would
instill confidence. After the tutorials, he found that he
was ready to take on any job.
Through Ken’s experiences with Video Professor,
it was evident that the distance learning tool was a
valuable and useful product. Ken has suggested that
because there were a lot of people in the business
world who had been working for a long time that did
not have the basic computers skills, that it might be
practical for a person to learn some computer skills
through Video Professor. Having gained computer skills
necessary in most jobs, Ken recommends that people
should learn from Video Professor when operating a
computer for the first time or when working with a new
program, thus suggesting that Video Professor is a
perfect educational tool for first-timers and
experienced workers.
